Time on the changing table

One constant through the baby Finn period is how much he likes to be on his changing table.

Initially we didn't have a dedicated changing table as when he was small we just used a pop up bassinet. Then in early April when he began to outgrow that we bought a real changing table for the bedroom and it became one of the best investments of my entire life.

Something about how high it is, and how it is angled at people changing him, and how much he likes talking to people created a perfect storm. Soon he would gurgle at me on the table, and smile, and generally be happy when I was changing him. In fact when he would get upset for months my go-to was to put him on the table and gurgle at him. He loved every minute of it.

The changing table was also the place of many a Facetime with grandparents, and countless pictures and video. Luckily I was smart enough to realize how precious those moments were and a few times after working him up I videoed the result of him gurgling and laughing. These video now represent my favorite memories of my adult life, as they represent something I am sure to look back on until my final day.

Finn is now filling that table and is starting to want to roll out of it. It feels like era is ending, but it was an era I will cherish for the rest of my life.
