Our first real Christmas

2012 was not the best year for me overall. Getting a house was great and getting hired at TRC was a relief, but what it took to get there was tough. I had a lot of fun in 2011 getting my MBA as I have always excelled at school and it was my last shot at it. Then in 2012 suddenly there was pressure to get a new job and change things significantly that made the first half of the year very uncomfortable.

Even when I got the TRC job it wasn't all smooth sailing, as I had to move down before Lindsey could and live at my friend's place for a month. My early career at TRC there were demands that I get to work early which was a new challenge for me, and combined with a lack of any sort of life routine made the situation even more difficult.

When we bought the house things didn't suddenly get easier, as then we were focused on directing traffic of house upgrades and getting things setup for the first time in a new place. It wasn't until November of 2012 did things calm down, and that got me excited for our first Christmas in our new house.

Black Friday 2012 was one of the best I have ever done (behind only 2014) and as part of it I got Christmas decorations for the house. I wrapped the trees out front with lights for the first and last time that we lived at that house, and I fought with the squirrel that were trying to chew up those lights.

The season was so full of hope for our news lives, and excitement over being home owners for the first time. Well into 2013 we were involved with home improvements and upgrades, some better than others (like when we redid the door). But 2012 is when it started, when we began to be 100% real people.

That first Christmas in our new house was something really special, and is something I will never forget.
